Monitor your success through heart rate

To make sure every client works at the most appropriate level for their needs and goals in every session, we utilise a high-quality heart rate monitoring system in our PT8 Small Group Personal Training. In class you can watch your own intensity and compete with your classmates on the big screen, plus take it home to keep track of your exercise between sessions!

 
 

How does it work?

Every client in the PT8 small Group Personal Training sessions wears a MyZone heart rate monitor belt around their chest just below the sternum. It’s easy to put on and easy to use. Based on your maximum heart rate, your exercise intensity will be monitored throughout the session so you can see exactly where you are compared to where you need to be and compared to others in your session. If you’re in a low-intensity zone your tile will be grey or blue, green for medium and yellow or red for high intensity. The group results are displayed in real time on a screen so the Trainer and team can compare results.

 
 

Why monitor heart rate?

Working out at high intensity produces an effect called Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). Your body incurs an oxygen deficit during high-intensity training so must continues to burn calories long after the workout is finished to repay this deficit. While many types of training like HIIT and Tabata work with this theory, it’s hard to know if you’re training in the right target zone without being able to measure and track it. The purpose of monitoring and displaying everyone’s heart rate zone during the session is to help the Trainer ensure everyone is working at the right level for them, to motivate each individual, and also to create a little friendly competition amongst the group.

 
 

Track your results

In addition to tracking your intensity during your sessions, you can use your MyZone heart rate monitor to track any of your other fitness activities outside the PT8 class. Using the app you’ll be able to see minute-by-minute breakdowns of your exercise effort and track your progress over time to understand more about your workout habits. Use the social platform to compare and share your results with your teammates and Trainers. Use the fun points and rewards system to keep you motivated and accountable. One of the biggest predictors of whether or not you will stick with your exercise program and achieve your goals – is accountability. With PT8 plus MyZone you have all the tools you need!
