Client Colin, losing weight and feeling better

Colin is a truck driver, he spends most of his day sitting behind the wheel and he doesn’t get to move around a lot. Being on the road all the time, Colin found himself eating a lot of junk food, and gaining a lot of weight. Over the years things had slowly crept up on Colin, until he was at a point where he was not happy with his weight, he was low on energy, eating junk food and and feeling terrible.

Colin decided he needed to make some changes and he started Training about 16 months ago. His main goal was to lose weight in the vicinity of 80-90kg, increase his fitness, and just feel better.

Facing hurdles

Earlier this year Colin faced a pretty major hurdle in his Training – he was forced to take about a month off after crushing his finger in a work accident. He had to have surgery on his hand and was not able to use it for several weeks. Colin found this incredibly frustrating since he had worked so hard to get to where he was, and then felt like he was going backwards. Ultimately Colin decided it was no good to dwell on the misfortune, he needed to leave that behind him and keep moving forward.

Despite the set back, Colin has still lost an impressive 20kg! He feels a lot better and healthier, and says he didn’t realise how bad he felt before, until he started feeling better. He can notice a very clear connection between what he eats and how he feels, giving proof to the old saying “You are what you eat”. Colin has made positive changes to his lifestyle by bringing his own lunch of tuna and salad along on the road, trying to eat more fruit and veg, and eating smaller, more frequent meals rather than large binges on junk food. Colin is working out in the gym on his own every night after work, in conjunction with his Personal Training sessions.

Working with a Trainer

Colin really enjoys his sessions with his Personal Trainers. He feels like he is able to get further with a Trainer than on his own, because they keep him on track and push him harder than he will push himself.

Nothing, I like it all, I know it’s all doing me good.

Colin says “If I can do it, anyone can. It’s never too late to start, just take it one day at a time, get your food and attitude right, and train consistently.”
